Florida Teacher Sentenced to 22 Years for Sex with Students

POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jennifer Fichter, 30, a high school English teacher, was sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with several of her students. Fichter was first accused of having inappropriate conduct with an eighth grade student in 2008. After admitting her feelings to another teacher, she resigned from the school district but in 2011 was hired by another district. Just one month after starting her new job, she was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student. Prosecutors said Fichter lied to the victims’ parents and had the students lie on her behalf.   After pleading guilty in April to 77 sex charges, the judge sentenced Fichter to 22 years, which was three years less than a plea deal she had rejected in April. After being arrested in April 2014, Fichter also admitted to becoming pregnant by one of her victims and having an abortion.  News Source: ABC Action News
