  • CARSON HIGH SCHOOL (CARSON CITY)
1111 N Saliman Rd, Carson City, NV 89701
Jennifer Dalton, 36, was arrested in October 2012 and charged with engaging in sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old student. She plead no contest on August 20, 2013, and was sentenced in October 2013 to a maximum of 30 months in prison. At trial, the defense acknowledged Dalton’s “bad choices” but argued she had already lost her job and reputation in the community, and strained her relationship with her husband and family, and prison couldn’t punish her more. The judge disagreed and sentenced her to a minimum of 12 months and maximum of 30 months. News Source: Carsonnow.org
  • EAGLE VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL (CARSON CITY)
    4151 E 5th St, Carson City, NV 89701
Stephanie Mariskanish, 28, a teacher aide at Eagle Valley Middle School, was arrested on May 23, 2014 and charged with four counts of sexual contact with a 14-year-old.  The incidents, which involved a student, allegedly happened in February and March of 2014. During trial in September 2014, Mariskanish’s public defender argued that the incidents took place off school grounds, and didn’t involve intercourse or a person who was a student of Mariskanish’s. District Judge Todd Russell rejected defense’s arguments and ordered Mariskanish to 1-3 years in prison. News Source: Nevada Appeal
