Jackson Hedrick, 23, was arrested in March 2015 and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl who was one of his social studies students at Irving Middle School. According to police, Hedrick gave the 14-year-old girl and one of her friends alcohol on March 11, 2015 when the three were at the friend’s home. The victim told police that while at the friend’s home, Hedrick performed sexual acts on her. In October, Hedrick pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault. In December 2015, Judge Lori Maret sentenced Hedrick to 20 to 30 years in prison, saying there is no risk worth taking when it comes to children, despite conclusions from a doctor and others that Hedrick was at a low risk to reoffend.
