Utah Junior High Teacher Arrested For Rape of Female Student

justin-davenportOGDEN, UTAH – Fox 13 News reported that Justin James Davenport, a former geography and history teacher at Highland Junior High, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly having a sexual relationship with an underage female student. Davenport, 34, faces charges of rape, a first-degree felony, forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony and forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony. The victim was a 9th-grade student and teacher’s aide for Davenport. The Ogden School District employed Davenport from August 2012 to March 2013, and placed him on administrative leave in 2013 after other teachers found him alone with the victim in a portable classroom. Davenport never returned to teaching after being fired, and is is unclear how he has been employed since then. According to the Deseret News, the sexual misconduct continued until November 2014. The victim’s mother contacted police on February 17, 2015, saying that her daughter had since admitted to having a sexual relationship with Davenport. A warrant for his arrest was issued March 31st, and he was booked into the Weber County Jail later that day.
