  • CLEBURNE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL  (HEFLIN)
520 Evans Bridge Rd, Heflin, AL 36264
Bronson Shay Ward, 33, a physical education teacher and basketball coach at Cleburne County High School, was arrested in September 2013 and accused of having sex with at least five students. In court, prosecutors played a taped statement by Ward in which he admits having sex with two students during their senior years at Cleburne County High School. Police believe most of the contact happened in Calhoun County. Ward  claimed he did not know it was against the law in Alabama for a teacher to have sex with a student 16 or older. In March 2014, Ward was sentenced to a 15 year split sentence, which included two years in jail, a period of house arrest, and probation for the remainder of the 15 year sentence.  News Source: WBRC News
